Prosthetics
Your initial appointment (approximately 1 hour):
• Based on your comments and what your Doctor has prescribed, our practitioner will evaluate your condition and make a cast of your residual limb.
• Our practitioner will talk with you about the design of the prosthesis you will wear and answer any questions you may have.
• Make your next appointment for approx 1 week later for your first check socket.
Check Socket Appointments (1 – 1.5 hours)
• You will come to two check socket appointments (unless more are needed).
• During your check socket appointments, you will try out a partially-finished prosthesis.
Our practitioner will evaluate the changes in your residual limb and make modifications to the socket as necessary. You may be sent home for one week wearing the check socket to make sure the fit and function are appropriate. If all looks well, and you and your practitioner are satisfied, you will make your lamination appointment.
Lamination
• In order to finalize the strength and look of the prosthesis, plan on bringing it in for lamination. Lamination usually takes 1 week, so please plan to have arrangements for mobility during that time.Your delivery appointment (30-60 minutes):
• On your final appointment, you will be able to walk out with your finished prosthesis.Follow Up & Adjustments:
• You will experience an adjustment period with your new prosthesis.
• You may call CTPO to make an appointment for adjustment & modification.
• Your practitioner may make arrangements to see you during one of your physical therapy sessions.Insurance & Payment:
• There is no cost or co-payment for office visits. The total cost to you & your insurance will be the cost of your prosthesis.
• CTPO can bill Medicare, Medicaid and most major insurance companies for your Prosthesis.
• If you have not met your deductible or you have a co-insurance to pay, you will receive a bill for your portion from CTPO after your insurance has made payment (usually within 30 days). Payments can be made by credit card or check.
• We also offer CareCredit, a no-interest (for 12 months) health care credit card. You can fill out an application for CareCredit at CTPO or at home online, and receive approval in a few minutes. CareCredit can be used to cover the patient portion of your orthosis.
