Services
Pediatric Orthoses (Lower extremity orthotics, bracing and Mitchell Shoes):
When your foot & ankle surgeon or doctor gives you a prescription for an AFO, AZ brace, knee orthotic or KAFO, call CTPO to schedule your initial appointment.
Your initial appointment (15-45 minutes):
· Based on your comments and what your pediatric orthopedic physician has prescribed, our practitioner will evaluate your condition and make a cast of your child’s leg(s) from which CTPO staff will fabricate or order his/her orthosis. For Mitchell Shoes for infants, simple measurements will be taken (no casts).
· Our practitioner will talk with you about the design of the orthosis your child will wear and answer any questions you may have.
· Allow about 2 weeks for fabrication of your child’s orthosis. CTPO will call you to schedule a delivery appointment when it is ready.
Your delivery appointment (15-45 minutes):
· Based on your doctor’s evaluation and your child’s needs, the practitioner will do a final fitting of the orthosis and ensure that it is working properly.
Follow Up & Adjustments:
· Your child will experience an adjustment period of about 2 weeks with his/her new orthosis.
· You may call CTPO to make an appointment for adjustment & modification.
Insurance & Payment:
· There is no cost or co-payment for office visits. The total cost to you & your insurance will be the cost of the orthosis.
· CTPO can bill Medicare, Medicaid and most major insurance companies for your orthosis.
· If you have not met your deductible or you have a co-insurance to pay, you will receive a bill for your portion from CTPO after your insurance has made payment (usually within 30 days). Payments can be made by credit card or check.
· We also offer CareCredit, a no-interest (for 12 months) health care credit card. You can fill out an application for CareCredit at CTPO or at home online, and receive approval in a few minutes. CareCredit can be used to cover the patient portion of your orthosis.
